Celeborn is a significant Elven character within J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, most notably appearing in *The Lord of the Rings*. He is a Sindarin Elf, meaning he is of the Teleri branch who remained in Middle-earth rather than traveling to Valinor.
Celeborn is the husband of Galadriel, one of the most powerful Elves in Middle-earth. Together, they ruled the realm of Lothlórien, a beautiful and magically protected forest, until Galadriel's departure to Valinor at the end of the Third Age.
Though less prominently featured than his wife, Celeborn is portrayed as wise and lordly, contributing to the defense of Middle-earth against Sauron. After Sauron's defeat, he expanded Lothlórien's influence, establishing Elven settlements in Dol Guldur and the southern part of Mirkwood.
